Visite du Donjon

Ancient fortress built around 1040 by Foulques Nerra, the keep of Moncontour is a real treasure of the XIth century, made famous by the wars and the sieges which were repeated there during the centuries. Bertrand du Guesclin, Geoffroy Martel and Gaspard de Coligny even wrote beautiful pages of French history there. The reconstituted roof and the staircase integrated in the thickness of the walls are to be discovered. If the view offered from the esplanade is already a journey, what can we say about the panorama offered from the top?
